Who makes up your Personal Beauty Army?

CHILL. I’m not asking cos I’m nosy, or because I want to steal them.

Yes I am.

Sorry.

After writing up a delightful beauty space earlier this week, one which I have decided has become part of my Melbourne Personal Beauty Army (a very specific appearance-based army focused on grooming and maintenance) I realised I still had a way to go in terms of my Melbourne PBA.

Like, just say I can’t shimmy back to Sydney to have Lien Davies masterfully, lovingly tend to my eyebrows for six weeks (I’m at seven and counting, things are getting tense) – who will do them?

[Just on Lien, she has released a fantastic ebook called How To Create Your Ultimate Brow Shape At Home – complete with How To videos and a mountain of gorgeous illustrations and photos. Yes, I see the irony of promoting her DIY Brow Shape book in the same paragraph as detailing my desire for a new professional brow shaper. Shut up.]

And what if I need a spray tan? FOR GOD’S SAKE WHAT IF I NEED A SPRAY TAN.

I don’t even have a hairdresser down here. Still pop up to Barney Martin for my hairs. (Finally getting my ‘underlights‘ put in this Saturday. Thinking very hard about installing a fringe as I do every now and again, but then remember do not have Jane Birkin’s hair texture/lack of cowlicks and am forbidden.)

02_jane_birkin

Jane Birkin arrogantly showing off her great hair texture and terrific fringe.

Anyway.

As I mentioned the other day, the way a dame generally finds her PBA is via word of mouth. And what better use of the comments section than for us to all share our PBAs? Let’s use our keyboards as our mouths, and our eyes as our ears and our teeth as our teeth! (In case we’re eating almonds.)

Just before we begin, let’s clarify the Personal Beauty Army Code.

To be considered a member of ones’s PBA, one must be not only reliable, talented, honest, skilled, pleasant to be around and offer better results than any other in their field, but they must thinly skate the line between being too good to share with others, and so good they must be shared with others”

Probably most women have a hairdresser, waxer and facialist in their PBA, but those who are slightly more invested in their physical upkeep, or who may be in a profession which demands a higher level of personal grooming, may also occasionally employ spray tanners, massage therapists, manicurists/pedicurists, eyebrow shapers, Botox injectors, dentists (for Invisalign/whitening, say), makeup artists for special occasions and of course, an ear polisher.

So, share!

Go right ahead and share. First clearly list which city you live in, and then list the members/salons of your PBA. And don’t be all greedy and keep some for yourselves. This is the sisterhood we’re immersed in here, we need to help each other out.

Just think, maybe one day your job as a Nanotechnological Bioinformatics System Integrations Researcher might see you transferred to Wollongong, and wouldn’t it be nice to know where to get some decent highlights when you arrive? Yes. It would be splendid.

In a perfect world, this post will become a kind of Little Black Book for Excellent Australian Beauty Services, where you can type in a search word (such as “Burleigh Heads”) and then just find the waxer of your dreams instantly…

So I dare to dream big. Sue me*.

A VERY HANDY HINT: Press Control F (“find”) and type in the city or state you’re looking for.

*Please don’t sue me.

Frank Valvo at Fur Hairdressing may be the best thing that ever happened to my hair. Ever. Bonus points for being both amusing, thoughtful and generous with a story!

  • Nico

I am very interested in this, as my hairdresser gave up to raise her kids (the nerve!!) And need to find an equally nice, non-terrifying gal for my hair.

  • Mette

    Zoë, love the idea!!
In Perth SOR, I recommend Decadence Nails for beautician related items. Colleen works out of her home and does nails, facials and waxing. She’s very skilled and a wonderful woman.
I had a hairdresser who went to work in a bank, the nerve!!! I trusted her with my hair which means more than my life. It’s thin and frizzy with a tight wave and this woman made it look good. Desperate for someone else who understands!

  • Natalie

    Fitzroy, Victoria
    Ginger Hair
I highly recommend Ginger from Ginger Hair. She has been cutting my hair for about 5 years since I moved to Melbourne. I won’t go to anyone else because she is just amazing and always seems to get what I’m jabbering on about. http://on.fb.me/12iUOGu

  • Jill

Newcastle. Does anyone know a good racialist in the Newcastle area? I’m struggling here!

  • Noods

    Melbourne

Spray tans: Nicole at Made Gorgeous, St Georges Road, North Fitzroy (Tuscan Tan)

Hair: Bianca at Frankie Grace, Wales St Thornbury – She is amazing!

Nails: Dixie at Orchid Day Spa, Hardware Lane, Melbourne – Unbeatable and so quick. For fancy/extended times, head to French Pink in the City or Albert park

Make up: No one is better than Karen Burton, Mecca Little Collins or freelance http://karenburton.tumblr.com/

Need a wax and eybrow and facial recommendation for Melbourne CBD or northside!

  • Amanda

Self Centred in Melbourne CBD does a great Omnilux and Jet Peel! They are about to move to new HQs in Melbourne Central which should be quite fancy. Also, Hoxton hairdressing in South Melbourne are fantastic – they always know exactly what you need to look and feel special (Amanda for cuts/Bec for colours). My eyebrow artiste recently moved interstate so I would love a recommendation – the best ones seems to be sole operators but they are hard to find.

  • Kelly

    Gold Coast
    Eyebrows
Lee who now owns the Lotus Beauty Lounge at the Meriton in Broady does THE BEST EYEBROW THREADING ever.
The. Best. Threading. On. The. Coast.
    I cannot stress this enough.

  • Lauren

Melbourne: Brows = Brow theory – threading and amaze (armadale, hawthorn, city)
Nails/ Make up = Miss Fox (Melbourne CBD)

  • Ira

Eyebrow Threading- Mylonas Hair and Beauty salon 22 Portman St, Oakleigh (03) 9568 1012
Honestly- best threading. Do it. (you have complemented my eyebrows both times I have showed up to your book events/ masterclasses, so this is like you are giving yourself the tip)

  • CSS

    Perth.

Hair- Ruri Hair Studio, Oxford street Leederville. Vincent, Miki and Yuki are amazing.

Waxing- Waitaha Day Spa, Hillarys. Clare and Sharon are both brilliant.

  • Phoebe

Hair: Rachel Winter for all things colour. She is heaven.
    https://www.facebook.com/RachelWinterHair

Tan: I love the oragnic spay tan at Endota. It looks really natural and it dries super fast and you don’t have to sleep in it. I also can’t beat the good old Ella Bache Great Tan Without Sun. If applying yourself seems a bit too hard, they will do it at a salon for you. I opt for a scub down before for $30 extra. It helps keep the colour longer and without looking like you’ve got leprocy.

Nails: For a treat, Lady Day on Collins St Melbourne CBD. For a cheaper pedi I go to Goddess of Nails and Beauty in QV, on Lonsdale St. They do a great shellac pedi.

Ladi bits: Brazillica, on Smith Street.

Facials: Beauty Bliss, Lygon St, North Carlton.
    http://www.beautybliss.net.au/
They have a decent range of services and lovely staff. I personally embrace the oxygen facials with a bit of micro.

Eyebrows: Aileen at Benefit Brow Bar in Myer Melbourne. I think it’s best to know your shapes if you go here though, based on my own experiences. I specifically ask not to have the top of my brows waxed and ask for a soft angled brow. I also always get a tint – what a gem that is. Other reccommendations for brow masters would be great, particularly Northside.

Makeup: Amy at Mecca Myer Melbourne. She is heaven.

  • Lizzy

Sweet Caroline in South Yarra is the best hairdresser in Melbourne. Does anyone in Melbourne know of a good brow place? I don’t think one exists. Zoe, can you ask Lien to open shop down south? It’s time us Victorians experienced great brows!

    • Ira

You must try Mylonas (as mentioned above). I heard of them through a friend who showed up to work with THE. BEST. BROWS.

They are a little out of the way… but so worth it.

    • Hannah

      Cracker post Zoe!
Bollywood Brows upstairs in Esprit Hair Salon (Flinders Lane, near Elizabeth St) is pretty amazing – their threading is the best thing to have ever happened to the upper half of my face. Understand exactly when I ask, ‘not too thin please…tidy but natural’.

  • shannon

    Perth
Beauty Queens in Subiaco do the best eyebrow shape and tint – and they also do amazing Mani and Pedi’s – I use Karla.

  • KB

Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast. I highly recommend Sam from SkinMatters 0404 091 494 for troublesome skin treatments. I’ve been having some peels with her and she is wonderful. More on the correction and treatment side than relaxing, luxurious side but I am already seeing results and am thrilled. Better still, she’s a registered nurse so I feel totally confident with all the treatment options she presents as she can explain them so competently! Also Zoe, she does Omnilux, so how could I not go and see her after the rave reviews you have given 🙂

  • Sarah

    In Sydney

Spray tan – The Bronzing Boutique

Hair – Element Hair, Woollahra. Kylie is an awesome colourist. She did what Zoe is now calling underlights in my hair a few months ago and its fab.

Face – The Facial Room, Woollahra. Also Laser Clinics Australia for when you need something a little more hardcore.

Hair removal — Laser Clinics Australia, Potts Point.

Brows – The Brow Bar, Woollahra. Not the quickest but they do a very good job.

  • Sarah

Just wanted to add – this is super helpful. I’m a Sydneysider but often head to Melbourne for the big race days but I never know which salon to go to for a blowdry or style. I’ll be putting these names and numbers in my phone for use in November!

  • Amy

    Collingwood, Melbourne

Hair – Simone of Cherry Bomb Hair, Collingwood Melbourne https://www.facebook.com/cherrybombhairsalon

Facial – Cellular Hydrating Facial at Crown Melbourne. They used something like 20+ products, it was insane. Amazing. SO GOOD.
    http://www.crownhotels.com.au/crown-spa-melbourne/spa/facial-en.html

  • Jess

Good hairdressers in Sydney? Looking for a new cut and colour and somewhere I know is good! 🙂

    • Maddy

I can highly recommend Suki on Oxford Street in Paddington. The salon is gorgeous, although not too huge, and they always give me a glass of champagne and a tea while I get my hair done (best combination). Most importantly though, everyone there is excellent. Everyone. And they are actually friendly too! I find some salons can be so stuck up. It’s $100 for a cut but it’s worth it 🙂

    • Erin

Sharni at Kazari Hair in Surry Hills, Sydney. I trust her immensely!

  • Jacinta

    Melbourne

Brows: Brow Theory (City, Armadale, Hawthorn).

Wax: Zip Zip, 329 Little Collins st, Melb

Need: Hairdresser & spray tan in northern suburbs (Coburg area).

    • Amber

Ditto for zip zip wax, Nikki is amazing and waxes everyone I know. Friendly, quick, painless and excellent.

      • Melzy

Hi Girls, just wanted to say thanks for recommending Zip Zip – it had been ages (read years) since I’d had a wax due to being a huge sook/chicken after a really bad experiences years ago. Nikki was amazing; minimal pain and made me feel comfortable despite being super nervous. Just an all round lovely and incredibly experienced lass.
I have only recently moved to Melb from the country and it has been great to read everyone’s recommendations and create my own Beauty army. So thank you Jacinta and Amber and of course Zo for such a great idea to start the ball rolling. Cheers☺

  • Lorin

    Melbourne town:

Facial – Emma @ Ella Bache in Balwyn, absolutely delightful Kiwi lass who knows just when to mix up my treatment

Hair by Lauren Mackellar in Toorak for cut/colour/style – I have thick, curly, sometimes frizzy hair & Lauren works magic!!

  • JanelleC68

    Wollongong area:

Hair: Jess at Baby Doll, 15 The Espalande, Oak Flats 02 4256 6663
    Beauty: Alison – same place

My sister took me there last week and I will now drive the almost 3hrs next time I need a haircut. She is a MASTER, but female & I hesitate to call her a mistress lol

  • Dani

Poppy at Kenny and the Sunshine girls for hair-amazing. North Melbourne. Always feel like a Guess model when my blow wave bounces outta there.
    Makeup- Sarah Yeoward http://www.iputaspellonyou.com
    Perfection!

  • Marcelle Crosby

Spray tan – Suzy Spray tan in Prahran – 0404 088 557. The best by far!

    • Kate

      Singapore.

      Anyone interested? 🙂

P.s.this is incredibly useful for travels back home to Australia, thanks Zoe!

    • Chester

Suzy is amazing! I’m beyond pale and hence I’m terrified of spray tans. Everytime I’ve seen her she’s given me a perfectly natural tan without a drop of oompa loompa orange!

      • Sophie

Chester, does suzy come to you? what are her prices like ?

        • Chester

Well she’s only 10 minutes from me so I’ve always gone to her. I have a feeling that she doesn’t do house calls but it can’t hurt to ask? I’m pretty sure she charges $40/45, but seriously- she’s amazing! Made me feel super comfortable about basically stripping in front of a stranger lol

    • Lisa G

Nobody beats Suzy! Top of the tops.

  • Stephanie

Melbourne: Peter at Shibui. South Yarra. I have evil, fine, cowlicky hair… Which I most certainly do not find cute! He cuts with my cowlicks so that I can work with them, rather than wage a war against them.
Cosy little salon for nails, and pampering- clover beauty in armadale.

    • Fruity

      I’m listening.

      • Stephanie

He does the only haircut I’ve been happy with in 23 years… 🙂

        Shibui
        139 Toorak Rd, South Yarra
        (03) 9820 9130

      • Ira

Also- try Robert (the owner), and there is a girl with super curly hair- who specialises in curly cuts and is meant to be unbelievable.

        • B

Fruity, listen to these babes. I live interstate, but am happy to wait until I’m in Melbourne to have my hair cut at Shibui. Park is my pick for taming my long thick curly hair

    • Nicole

Or as I call him… ‘Genius Pete with his Blades of Destiny’. Pricey but worth it. Heck, I’ll say it, my (curly) hair looks AMAZING when he cuts it. I get compliments every single day.

  • Emily

Brisbane – Alicia at Togninis in the Valley. Super sweet, knows her stuff, gets it right every time! Eyebrows, facials, mani/pedi go see Sharon at Refining Beauty in New Farm. Thanks to her I now have lush thick brows!!!

  • Sarz

    Surry Hills, NSW
    Waxing

Eden at Aleisha Jane Beauty on Crown St is the master of brazillians and brows! Practically pain free, quick and a magician at stopping in-growns and post-wax bumps. LOVE LOVE LOVE her.

    • Elise

Oh my Sarz! I completely agree! She is so quick I’ve barely asked how she is, or had time to blush that its been too long for a wax-and she’s DONE.
Small salon but they really know what they are doing. Reasonable priced, aforementioned quickness and thorough with Brasillians.

  • SamMac

Townsville (…for we sadly regional dames of limited beauty options)

Massage: First Things First, Mundingburra (07) 4728 7165
Hair: She Creative (Simone), North Ward (07) 4721 1110
Eyelash extensions: Lavish Beauty Lounge (Megan) slick home salon, Mt Louisa (07) 4788 0079
Skin woes & brilliant Botox: Skinworx (Monique), Heatley (07) 4779 3333

Would LOVE to hear from any fellow Townsvillians with other suggestions 🙂

    • Ozlicious

I’m a Townsvillian! I also happen to be a beauty therapist. 🙂 I treat all skin conditions but I specialise in treating sensitive/sensitised/overstressed/red/irritated/dehydrated skin with funky pH and barrier function issues. I’m at Beauty on Stanley, come and say hey sometime! (my name’s Katherine, haha – if you asked for Ozlicious there might be an awkward pause).

And HEYYYYY! I’m a She Creative girl too! I see Rikki. She is a gem. It’s so hard to find a salon that does a great blonde but she nails it. She uses a pink toner on me instead of a purple one, so my hair is a pearly platinum rather than a grey shade. SO. GOOD. I’m a total Aveda convert now too!

    • Ree

Lisa from Snip in Time Hair Design on Fulham Road in Heatley. Beyond amazing with my cut and colour. I’ve moved to Brisbane now but I still get her to do my hair, I schedule an appointment with her every time I head home.

      http://www.facebook.com/pages/Snip-in-Time-Hair-Design/112248551581

    • Hana

Townsville ladies – you must see Dani at Reds. She is amazing. I fly home just to get my hair done with her. Worth every penny.

  • MrsB

Brisbane – Melissa from Omnific Hair has been doing my hair for years. She’s awesome!

I moved to Darwin for 2 years but I refused to find a new hairdresser up there & just hung out for trips home to get it done.

  • Jodie

Anyone with any suggestions for Canberra? Especially a great hairdresser/ colour expert? Just got the worst colour of my life yesterday and need someone great to fix.

    • Lizzy

I also live in Canberra but just wait to get everything done when I’m visiting home in Melbourne. I have been so disappointed with Canberra’s beauty scene, seems like it’s still stuck in the really over-plucked eyebrow days. I went to Brazilian Butterfly the other day and they were so rough and unprofessional. Canberra is screaming out for good salons! Good luck Jodie!

    • Emmy

Hit up Samuel at THE hairdressing in braddon (at James court across from maccas). Best cut I found in Canberra and I spent 12 yrs looking.

      • Gemma

YES! Samuel is the absolute best hairdresser in Canberra and such a gorgeous person. I have difficult, awful hair and he has it looking better than ever!

    • RC

Best haircut and colour I’ve ever had was at Axis in Canberra City.

      http://www.axishair.com.au/

    • Karen Eriksson

For great eyebrows in Canberra try Mystique Beauty in Gungahlin 02 6242 4542

Axis hairdressing is expensive but worth it. There’s also a serious underground culture of at home hairdressers who leave the salons and work from home.

    • Cath

For perfect hair cuts got to Wayne at Fringe in Braddon. He is a god with the scissors

    • Kate

For a great hair cut/colour go to Cataldo’s on Northbourne Avenue.

    • Caroline

Aaron at Off London does a really nice cut. Sadly my colourist has just left so i’ll find out if I like the new one next trip.

Muna at Endota Day Spa in Hobart Pl does AMAZING eyebrows with her threading skills and gives a nice soothing massage after leg waxing.

    • Amy

Not sure on the hair front for Canberra, but can’t go past Foundation at Lyneham shops for a spray tan or brazilian. Claire, the owner, is so so lovely and the girls there are fantastic too. Benefit in the Canberra Centre do great brows, as Benefit is wont to do. NB: the girls at Foundation do good brows too. Snaps all round for Foundation Lyneham.

    • Kaz

Jet at Bizarre of Canberra (Manuka) is a master colourist/hair artiste!
Sylvie at Sylvie’s Beauty Therapy (also Manuka) for all beauty treatments, specialising in braz for men and women. Mahtab at Sylvie’s Beauty Therapy for amazing eyebrows.

  • Emmy

Zoe, I read your article on MADE yesterday and thought wow, that place sounds amazing, I wish I knew somewhere good to go in Brisbane! And what’d’ya know!
I’ve just moved up here and had to say goodbye to an amazing hairdresser (samuel at ‘The’ hairdressing in canberra) so would love some recommendations 🙂
Also any hints on what to do with hair in humidity would just rock my frizzy heads world!

  • Dena Kaplan

    Hi Zoe,
So a part of me wants to keep my secret beauty army a secret, but due to the fact that you have passed on so much wonderful knowledge to me I feel the need to share. ( Also I adore you and groomed eyebrows and perfect skin, so why not share the love, all girls deserve to have the best)
I have lived in Melbourne a long time and this is my dream team that I use constantly:

Facial: Monica at Melbourne cosmetic and laser medical centre, the best extractions and peels in the world, this woman will fix any problem skin and acne. She is brilliant and no one else compares.

Brows: Amar at kaya skin care on chapel st, not only does she have the best eyebrows in the world, she does the best shape and is also the nicest woman i have ever met, she keeps the brows thick and gorgeous, I cannot recommend her enough. She also does an incredible Oxygen facials that I get done before any events or shoots. She does a wonderful brazilian wax too! *** three stars for best all rounder

Hair: Craig at Urban Hair Escape OR anyone at Shibui or Blunt, wonderful for brunette hair and changing up colours and styles. I have been happy at all 3 places, excellent service and I change it up all the time..

Waxing: Silk brazilian waxing on chapel st or Amar @ kaya skin couture also on chapel st.

Spray Tan: Body Bronze on glenferrie rd, ask for the ophelia tan- this is the ONLY tan to use, it is not orange, so subtle and beautiful and smells okay! Ask them to do a light spray for a sun kissed perfect red carpet look. These girls are pros.

Nails: Cannot go past Miriam and Shanika at TOPNAIL in elsternwick, you simply wont ever get a better manicure in your life.. trust me… 9523 8284

Makeup Artist: my sister of course at DGA Artists
    http://kaplansisters.blogspot.com.au

Hair Stylist for events/weddings: Julie Dammery, Jo Fletcher, Monica Gingold or Lauren Mackellar

Love this idea, looking forward to seeing/trying new places! xx

  • Anna

    Melbourne
The Brow Bar in South Yarra… I traipse across the river for these girls. Unlike most of you, I have pale, uninteresting, sparse, blond brows. And The Brow Bar create shape, colour and arch… suddenly my brows frame my face! Love them. I go back religiously every three weeks (told you my brows were pale!). Camellia does mine and she’s just lovely.

    • Alice

Second this! Oh how I second this.

The Brow Bar in South Yarra are beyond amazing. Although now I believe they go by the name of ‘Simply Brows & Lashes’. I am from the Mornington Peninsula and travel to either South Yarra or their new clinic in Camberwell to have my brows threaded and tinted by Molly.

She totally recreates shape and structure in my brows, gives me the perfect tint while still maintaining a nice thick, natural shape.

Cannot brag about these girls enough. They’re saviours!

  • Clare

For event/wedding make up and hair I can not recommend the lovely Aimmey from Miss Aimmey Make Up and Hair highly enough. She was responsible for prettying us up for my wedding in June and not only does she do an incredible job she is super lovely and so much fun to spend time with. The make up and hair lasts and lasts (I seriously contemplated leaving my make up on for the next day and the hair had hardly budged) and looks like you…just a glammed up.

    http://missaimmey.com/

    She really is amazing

  • SLB

Hair – Tenille Gray in Middle Park, gorgeous little salon and Tenille does pretty, wearable cuts
Eyebrows – Neoskin Richmond, best eyebrow shape i have ever had. (Ruth is amazing but all the girls there are extremely well trained and it is an unbelievable price)
Neoskin also does incredible facials and good laser hair removal

    • Ez

Ruth at Neoskin also does the best laser hair removal – so quick and efficient, which is great because why prolong the pain? I think she is on Mat Leave at the moment, very selfish of her 😉

  • Kat

I’ve just moved to Melbourne from Perth, so need to rebuild my PBA too! However, in Perth I can recommend Ronda at Headcase Hair in Cottesloe. (303 Marmion St next to Daisies). 92843279. She is the absolute best. Great colour and cut, so much fun.

  • Emma

Any recs for a spray tan and Brazilian in CBD Melbourne… I’m off to bask in the sun next week… TIA

  • Sam

Can anyone recommend any places in Adelaide? In particular for brows

    • Jayne

The Eyebrow Studio at Glenelg and O’Halloran Hill. Anytime I see someone in Adelaide with great brows, they always tell them they got them done at the Eyebrow Studio!!

      • Jen

The Eyebrow Queen is quite popular, however I haven’t been to her myself. I go to Sarah at The Swoon Effect- really lovely and well priced, she is also a makeup artist and does tanning too!

      • Laura

It’s allllllll about the Eyebrow Queen at Semaphore! Admittedly the hike down Port Road is unfortunate, but I do it religiously now. Plus, she’s a hoot and a half.

    • Sarah

Be Pure on Henley Beach Rd, Brooklyn Park. All the girls there are amazing!!!

  • Mrs P

Non PBA related but can I just say I’m SO looking forward to seeing you with underlights! Please Insty a pic on Saturday so we can all enjoy!

  • KatS

Saint Louie Hair – well worth the city trip. I have been looked after JP for many years – genius. Beautyologist for all things beauty – see Sia – Carlisle St Balaclava (east st kilda for some!) – gorgeous salon, amazing staff, beautiful products – ticks every box.

  • Ashleigh

    Melbourne!

Skin – Sandra at Missie CoCo Face and Body Therapy in Prahran. I went to her about a year ago with awful acne on my neck and face (I came off the Pill after 12 years! ARGH!) A year later and my skin is flawless. Not even joking. Between home care and salon treatments, she’ll fix your skin. I swear to god. And she is loveliest, kindest lady. She even offered to come around and visit me with some free products when I was stuck at home after surgery. Sorry for sounding so gushy but she is the best! Go see her! http://www.prahranbeauty.com.au/ She does the lot – facials, waxing, manicures, makeup…the lot!

Waxing – Nat at Silk Brazilian Waxing on Chapel St, or Nat (a different one!) at Missie CoCo in Prahran.

I’m always looking to improve my brows so thank you to everybody for the tips!

This was such a great idea Zoe, thank you for posting!

  • Sally

Melbourne – This is one for ladies in South Eastern suburbs.
    Spray Tan
Jasmine at Skin Review in Glen Waverley does the best spray tans, ever.
    9561 2059
I’ve had quite a few tans there over the years, including for my wedding and it was completely perfect. Not orange, very light colour and exactly what I said I wanted. And Jasmine is lovely!

  • Zoe

Omg you mentioned Wollongong! Haha. My rec is for The Fox And The Hair salon in Wollongong, funnily enough. Awesome colourists and even better cutters. Plus the girls are seriously lovely.

  • Col

Sam I am desperately seeking brow expert in Adelaide too! Anyone???

    • Jayne

      See my reply to Sam!

    • Priscilla

      Hi Adelaide girls,

The Eyebrow studio on Sussex st in Glenelg

      And

Colores Make Up on Prospect Rd, Prospect.

Both are equally amazing for brows and Colores for Makeup is fantastic.

Just depends which side of the city you live on.

  • MissK

    Brisbane

Savy is based in the CBD on Albert Street and does the BEST shellac manicure. Only does hand filing and has decent range of colours including a heap of awesome neon colours. Only $40 for a manicure and shellac. Perfection. 0430 951 064

Freelance makeup artist – Monique Seage – 0431 345 546 – I always use Mon for special events, she does airbrush makeup which is long lasting.

Eyebrows – Browzing at Bulimba or Benefit Brow Bars.

I love Stephanie’s Vintage Day Spa in Cleveland for an afternoon of luxurious pampering but is not easy on the old hip pocket!

  • alinda

    Melbourne
my hairdressers are now like my family, love those girls to bits! !

Hair- Hair Works 1142 Burke rd Balwyn North 9859 1618. Colleen the owner is my sister but she is truly amazing. She trained at David jones in the city, worked in South Yarra for years and has had her own salon for over 10 years. You will love her!

Brows – I found Lien through you Zoe, and have formed a lovely friendship over the phone with her as she has really helped me with my brows. I have her ebook and use it every 6 weeks or so and get so many compliments on my brows and people asking who does them. Seriously girls, buy the ebook!!!!

  • Louise

    Perth
Hair-Maurice Hair Salon (NOT Maurice Meade), Essex St Wembley.

Charlie and Angelo are creative masters of hair. A friend introduced me and I was in such a rut that I told them to do what they like and it turned out amazing! I have such faith in these guys that I do this every time now. And you may even get treated to a private concert (they have a piano and double bass in the salon). Such talented fun guys.

  • Michelle

    Sydney, Northern Beaches:

What a lovely group of sharers!

    Adelaide:
Hair: Cathy at Yellow Strawberry North Adelaide. Convinced me to go blonde, changed my life. 9 year relationship and counting
Special event/wedding hair: Emily at the Basin Goodwood. Nailed each look me and my bridesmaids asked for. Exactly.
Special event makeup: Sam from Maquillage and more (google/Facebook)
Eyebrow queen: Ocea at Ocea beauty bar Payneham.
    Waxing: Ocea again
Still seeking long term relationship with spray tanner and facialist…

I realise these are all different suburbs but the beauty (pun intended) of living in Adelaide is you can drive all over the place is 20 minutes!

  • Laura

Brisbane – Julia at White Gold Boutique in New Farm does the best brows, and Kayleigh at Brazilian Beauty in the city does great waxing (fast and painless)

  • Anna

I have been searching for a good hairdresser since I moved to Sydney 8 (!!) years ago and I finally found her about 9 months ago. I see Sharni at Kazari on Crown St. She has totally transformed my hair (and my life – it’s been such a confidence boost!) and she’s a total delight as a person too. Seriously cannot recommend her enough. She really gets how my hair sits and what it needs.

I also love the nail lab in darlinghurst – cheap but stylish and so clean. Coco beauty in bondi junction is my go to if I need a quick, inexpensive tidy for my brows/bikini line. Vaia in Surry hills is wonderful for something fancier.

  • Christine

Sydney — THE PARLOUR ROOM in Clovelly! The staff there are so friendly & really look after you! They do Brazilians in literally 10 minutes, ALL hot wax & does not hurt one bit!! They are also my go to for spray tans! The are so thorough and I always get comments on how natural my tan is. They have these booths that Filter the air & suck it out of the room as you are being sprayed so you are not choking. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this salon. You MUST check out their decor as well… It is the most stylish & welcoming salon you will ever see!

  • Amy

ZOE, oh lovely Zoe. Thanks to the cupids working their magic, i am currently seeing a guy and need my Va-jay jay waxed. I’m in Sydney. Where do I go?
C’mon ladies, don’t tell me you all do it at home? Shiiiiiiiiit!

  • Rin Dawson

Sydney, Northern Beaches – you cannot go past “rapport beauty” in Newport for all your waxing/shaping needs (ask for Kerry!) she also does some rad beauty treatments.
as for hair “mana” hair in Avalon is amazeballs. all the girls are great – but Natalia is lovely 🙂

  • melissa

hobart tasmania: skin and tonic http://www.skinandtonicbeauty.com.au/ everyone their is great
burnie tasmania: jess at indulgence. she has nice lucious eyebrows so doesnt over wax or alter your natural shape as she clearly respects her own!

  • Clare

Any suggestions for Sydney Lane Cove, Crows Nest area? Especially keen on a good hairdresser for curly hair and eyebrow expert as I am currently sat with frizzy hair and bumpy lower forehead 🙁

  • Chelle

    Adelaide SA:
Someone else above mentioned about the fact that their Beauty Army is all across the city-mine is too!
    Hair:
‘Vain’ Hairdresser on The Broadway at Glenelg South is my go-to for event hair both formal occasions and as part of a wedding and all the girls are fantastic!

    Waxing & Tan:
The Beauty Spot on Marion Road at Plympton Park.

Eyebrow Waxing & special occasion Makeup: (belair)
Carly Dabinet Makeup and Beauty Therapy. Carly is in Belair – (I live in Glenelg and travel 25 mins to belair to see Carly!)
    website http://www.carlydabinet.com.au
After an eyebrow waxing disaster she has brought my eyebrows back to shape, she is also the only person I trust to do my event makeup. She uses Youngblood mineral cosmetics and is AMAZING!!!

  • Libby

In Canberra, the hair salon to go to is Axis. Gianni is the best for cuts but difficult to get an appointment with.

  • LauraT

    Brisbane

For waxing see Lilijana at Urban Energy, Coorparoo. She is amazing. A brazilian is $40 and you’ll be in and out in less than 10 minutes. As I ‘ve told lots of people before, I can never move too far away because I don’t want to leave Lili!

  • Georgia

Boy, oh boy, I bloody love reading these comments. So much so that I’ve been inspired me to share my own Melburnian Appearance Assembly:

Hair: Terry at Frankel Salon, 757 High St, Armadale, 9509 3999. Ask for Terry. He has been in the industry for, uh, a ‘good’ amount of time (read: long) and is the ideal, adorable blend of obnoxious know-it-all (when it comes to hair) and telepathic listener. He gets trends but can adapt brilliantly to suit your hair type, face etc. etc. I JUST had a Birkin fringe cut 2 weeks ago and am thrilled with it. He prides himself on ‘his ability to cut a killer fringe’ – I said he was adorably obnoxious. Also has killer restaurant and documentary recommendations and loves to talk technology – perf.

Brows and waxing: Cece at Le Skin, 809 Glenferrie Rd, Hawthorn, 9818 6565. A lover of bushy brows and an all-round brilliant babe. Believes in ‘less is more’ (re eyebrows, of course) and the shape she has given me has transformed my face. Actually actively encourages you to be bossy and demanding when it comes to you appearance which is really refreshing. Brow waxing is ridiculously priced ($19.50!!!), flexible with opening times to accommodate busy lives and has excellent taste in film and TV. I look forward to my monthly waxes and Breaking Bad/Mad Men/Game of Thrones/Parks and Recreation/The Wire chats. Highly recommend her facials also.

Tan: Love Those Lashes (aka Tuscan Tan), 3/14 Walpole, Kew, 1300 527 437. The only place I trust to give me the loveliest, most perfect glow. They are also polite enough to listen and nod when I say ‘as dark as you can go’ but caring and wise enough to ignore me and turn me the loveliest shade of golden. They never fail to ask if there’s a special occasion and what I’m wearing, which, in my opinion, is key. Always even, never splotchy and fades perfectly. And I never feel too bossy and stupid going back and asking for a touch up on my leg because I dropped my smoothie on it on my way home from my appointment…

Nails: Treat yo self to a bottle of Seche Vite top coat and some OPI polishes from this seller (http://www.ebay.com/sch/beautyzone2007/m.html) and some Essie polishes from this seller (http://stores.ebay.com/enchantedbeautyspot) and do it yo self! For the price of a mani you can get yourself a new colour every time and this top coat forgives even the most confusing of mistakes. I don’t want to sound arrogant (oh, but I AM) but I get asked on an hourly (fortnightly) basis, by strangers, whether my nails are Shellac. Fools!

    • Bec

Georgia, I knew I would see you on here!

STRONGLY second the recommendation of Le Skin beauty salon on Glenferrie Road Hawthorn. Cece is the ONLY person who has ever touched my eyebrows and as long as she is working will be the ONLY one I go to. Not to get too boastful but I am complimented on my eyebrows on a semi to very regular basis (at least once a week) and it is ALL because of her. Have sent several friends to her over the decade I have been with her (all with very different eyebrow needs) and they’ve all loved her.

Cece is also excellent for general waxing and her massages are TO DIE FOR. For shiz. She is the loveliest woman and so so accommodating (will often stay open late or work public holidays so us working gals can get an appointment). She is also flat out lovely and a great confidant/gossiping pal (as all members of a personal beauty army should be)

is an absolute gem of human being.

      • Georgia

Sister doesn’t lie. Bec is my bezzie and every single effing time we’re out together she is showered with compliments re her brows. It’s usually at that point in the morning/afternoon/evening that I thrust my nails in front of the compliment-giver and shout ‘NOT SHELLAC, DID IT MYSELF’. She was the genius who got me on to Cece. I will be forever grateful for this tip x x x

        • Ozlicious

Hahaha. Priceless. I’m all for a bit of nail-shoving!

          • Reanna

Georgia, I could kiss you for the ebay seller recommendation! I’ve been using ‘beautyzone2007’ for years for all of my Seche Vite needs, but Enchanted’s prices on colours are incredible. Thank you! Thank you!

  • sarah

Perth, Alison Jade for all things brows! I have never looked backed since going there. They are unreal and are such perfectionists, they will spend about 30-40 mins
    tending to them 🙂

  • Laura

    Adelaide:
For the cheapest, quickest waxing in town, go to Ann at Waxworks (inside the Portabello hair studio at the Metro in Unley). I almost don’t want to reveal this, for she is such good value, but I feel I would be betraying the sisterhood if I didn’t.

And for eyebrows – The Eyebrow Queen in Semaphore. Yes, it is a little pricey, but I’ve tried elsewhere and decided that you get the best overall result from her. And now I am unwaveringly loyal!

  • katiepie

S’cuse the French, but what the eff are “under lights”? I have just gotten my head around balayage and ombré! :))))

    • katiepie

Ok it pays to scroll… Of course Zoe has posted info – detailed info i might add. I am now informed! Thank goodness! 🙂

  • Mandy

In Melbourne, in a gorgeous little town called Ivanhoe, Sabi do amazing eyebrows. Since I’ve gone on maternity leave and don’t work close by anymore, my poor brows have never been the same. Look like Grover.

  • Lizzy

If only there was a ‘like’ button for the comments! I’m enjoying this so much, best post ever Zoe! I have bookmarked it and will bring up whenever I need something done.

  • Sarah

Hairdresser in Geelong, Sally Sargeant at La La Locks. Best hairdresser EVER!

  • Jordi

Completely agree with KatS regarding Beautyologist on Carlisle St Balaclava.

And for fantastic firm massage I would recommend Maria Perta. She was at the QV womens centre but I can provide her number if messaged.

  • Lauren

I’ve only been in Melbourne a short while and need a great hairdresser who’s good with thinner hair? And good with colouring too.

Every hairdresser I go to insists on putting the GHD through my hair which only makes it look incresdibly flat and thin.

The last place I was recommended to go to charged me upwards of $300 which is a lot for a student.
    Help!

    • Sophie Brown

‘ what she said above! need someone who can do a curly blow!! no ghds they equal lankyness & frustration.

      • KatS

Seriously. Saint Louie Hair in the city. Both cutters, Ivan and JP are great, and the colourist, I’ve heard (I’m a redhead, no need for colour here) I’ve heard is the best!

      • Annette

Cherrybomb hair on smith st in Collingwood. One of my close friends who has very curly hair swears by them and her hair always looks amazing after her appointments with them. They specialise in curly hair.

    • Samantha

Jamie-Lee at Biba in South Yarra is so amazing. I was aways super super angry leaving a hair salon until I started going to her. Such an amazing colourist. I’ve also heard the students at Biba academy on Swanston St are goo too if you’re after a cheaper session!

  • Sophie Brown

    PERTH LADIES:

Best hairdresser BY FAR – Leanne (British Hairways)

this is her fb page link-

she lives NOR, comes to you or you go to her..shes absolutely amazing and a gem of a human being!

  • Kate

    Adelaide Ladies!

Can anyone recommend a good facialist? I’m after someone that offers extractions – product type isn’t a huge deal.

    Thanks!

  • Sophie Brown

Can anyone in melb recommend a place for a good/not too exxy massage?

  • Gabby

    Adelaide-Daly Salon, rundle mall.

I have very long curly thick hair, had a fear of hairdressers since an early age when I was given an Afro. Ask for Kara AMAZING knows exactly how to handle difficult hair!

    • Isabelle

Absolutely second the Daly Salon recommendation! Lovely people, a beautiful salon and I’d trust Paul to do anything with my cut – it always comes out looking fantastic.

    • Anita

I need a good hairdresser desperately, thank you so much for the rec!

      • Chels

Completely agree – Daly Salon is amazing. A-maz-ing. Jackson saved my hair after an unfortunate colouring incident at another salon – and I wouldn’t go anywhere else now. Quick, upfront, professional, talented people.

  • Trisha Claire

Totally Random, but just thought I would add just incase. I live in Melbourne, but originally from Shepparton, so if anyone needs any beauty/health related items in Country Victoria:

    – Nu Beauty – ask for the owner Tracey, she is beyond fantastic, I regularly travel back to Shepparton, just to have her do my waxing etc as I’ve had some horrible experiences in Melbourne. She also does lovely facials and spray tans

    – Hair – Salon J – always had fantastic service, reliable, great colour and cut

    – Acupuncture – Klaus Luccatini – he is gentle, caring and his knowledge is amazing

    – Chiropractor – Steve Hawtin – takes the time to fully assess, gentle and answers all questions

    – Dentist – Don Prato – he is gentle and helps even the most nervous of patients who want to walk out (me!)

    – Massage – Cher Hetherington at the Myotherapy Centre

Hope that helps anyone that is looking!

  • KaylaJane

BRISBANE! HELP ME!! I’ve just moved here and desperate for a hairdresser that isn’t going to charge me $300!

    • Sarah

I couldn’t recommend Michael at Fruition (Wilston) more if I tried.

    • Hana

Fruition are expensive – I spent $200 to get regrowth done on short hair!!!!!!

    • Grace

Envy Hair at Teneriffe/ New Farm near Brisbane.. Caitlyn is amazing!
Best haircut I’ve had in 8+ years in the area… 100 times better experience and a lot more affordable than (overhyped) Orb down the street
Got my Mum (impossible to please!) and sister going to Caitlyn too.

  • Jessica

    Melbourne Eastern Suburbs girls!
I have been going to Wardika Concept Salon and Spa in Balwyn North for 15 years as you can go and have your hair and beauty needs all taken care of under one roof by a team of pros!
The hairdressers are so skilled and can literally work miracles and the therapists in the day spa upstairs do amazing facials using La Biosthetique products as well as eyebrow threading and waxing!
What more could a girl (or boy) ask for???

  • Lizzy

    Sydney:

For eye brow shaping – Martha Bedggood. She works out of Fringe on Crown in Surry Hills.

I also recommend, Tommy from Fringe on Crown in Surry Hills for a cut and colour.

For tans and waxing, I recommend Bronzalicious in Neutral Bay.

I’m looking for a great, hygienic place either in the Surry Hills area or Neutral Bay/Cammeray/Mosman area to get a manicure and pedicure . I would love to hear any suggestions!

    • Adriana

Nails: USA Nails in Mosman or Neutral Bay. Amazing, very clean, the girls do a great Shellac and are willing and able to do nail art! I work in the Lower North Shore area and when people ask where I get my nails done (I go crazy with nail art) and I tell them USA nails more often than not they are regular customers themselves!

    • Lauren

The Nail Lab in Darlinghurst. Best nail salon in Sydney.

  • KatMac

I’ve moved around a bit with the army so have some random hair salon suggestions
    Wagga – Irvin Day 02 6921 6692
Lyn gave me the most amazing Louise Brooks style bob and instead of forcing a fringe she created one from how it fell forward naturally. Absolute genius.
    Toowoomba – Profile Hair 07 4638 2498
Vanessa is wonderful, the salon is beautiful and everyone so accommodating. The most pampered I’ve ever been in a salon, by far.
    Melbourne – Sweet Caroline 03 9867 6611
Stefano gave me Victoria Secret model hair without extensions. Ridiculous.
    Wollongong – Fox and the Hair 02 4226 9706
Beautiful salon, and they can actually do a proper roller brush blowdry that lasts for days, none of this hot tools crap I can do at home. Queens of balayage, inventive, brave, I drive from Sydney to see Amy Lee.

    • Ally

KatMac, thanks so much for this. I was scrolling through the comments thinking I wasn’t going to find a recommendation for Toowoomba, but there you go! Is Profile reasonably priced? I have heard great things about the salon.

      • KatMac

I found Profile to be pretty reasonably priced for the service, and they aren’t dodgy, like adding treatments on for extra when you don’t need them and stuff. And they are lovely and flexible, Vanessa even stayed open late one night for me and insisted that it was no problem (even though it must have been a nuisance)! Seriously lovely salon.

    • E

Hey guys. Another one for Toowoomba is Minx Contemporary Hair Boutique in Ruthven St. I recommend Jess, because she understands what you want and adapts it to suit you.

  • Ally

    Sydney siders-

George at Saba Hair in Surry Hills. He’s the best at interpreting what you actually want!
i.e what comes out of my mouth: “I want it like this and this and that but not like this and a bit like that but not too much of that. Eugh, I can’t explain it. Can’t you see the image I have in my mind?!”
What he does with the scissors: Sees that image in my head and replicates it perfectly.

    Highly recommend!

  • Nicola

Perth: Marchesi Coiffeur on Hutton St. is the absolute best hairdresser I’ve ever been to. See David Marchesi for the ultimate, most splendiferous hair. He is a dead set legend.

  • Sarah

Milla from Jet Set Go in Pitt St Westfields is amazing for eyebrow threading. For beauty and waxing, La Beautique in Leichhardt.

  • Joanna

    What a fab list!!!

    Sydney
For facials, nails and glorious omnilux treatments I go to Jocelyn Petroni at the Facial Room at Woollahra. Love love love. I started going there after reading about her Omnilux treatments in one of Zoe’s blogs. I am turning 40 this year and no one at my new job believed me. She is having some kind of crazy Benjamin Button effect on me! Getting harder and harder to get in to see her though so recommending her is my random act of kindness for the day!

For hair, I go to Toni and Guy in Leichhardt. I see Alison for a great colour and Dario has resolved my lifetime problem of always having messy hair. He makes it look like it is stylish and meant to be that way!!

  • Sophie

Love this thanks so much, I hate my hairdresser but am too chicken to leave and change as it is a case of ‘better the devil you know’, so I am stalking for Sydney recommendations… refresh!!

whilst we are on the topic….I am in the start-up scene and am passionate about creating apps for women made by women, and was thinking of launching an app based on this very idea.

Basically, if you see an awesome shoe, coat, nails, hair or whatnot in the street, you can ping the chick (who also has the app) and give them a compliment and ask them where they got it. Kind of like grindr for fashion, and beauty. There would be measure to ensure no trolling or stalking and the compliments would organically build up a virtual little black book.
    Would you use this?

  • Lauren

    Brisbane
I can recommend Kate at Body Beautiful Retreat in Ascot for facials – I think I found her through a comment on one of Zoe’s blogs a few years ago. She does extractions which for me is an essential ingredient.
I go to benefit brow bars for my eyebrows – they’ve done a consistently good job at restoring my eyebrows over the last two years after they were trashed by a beauty therapist who shall not be named!
I’m still on the hunt for my dream hairdresser, waxer and tanner so will definitely give the salons recommended above a go! Such a brilliant and helpful idea Zoe!

  • Sarz

If you can’t make it to the stunning views of Milsons Point, Wild Life Hair has another smaller salon in Surry Hills called Sogo. Expert colourists and great for ‘big deal’ hair styles when you need a change but don’t know what on earth you want. The best of Wild Life on the Sluzza side of the bridge.

  • El Belle

Zoe I tried to ask my hairdresser for underlights for my brunettefortoolong very fine hair but she followed her own creative dream and now I’m partially blonde. Oops. She is a clever girl though and it looks good.

Lesson: If you you have a great hairdresser sometimes it is fun to let them do their own thing!

Enjoy your proper underlights though, can’t wait to see!

  • Amy

Miss Fox Melbourne on Little Collins for Hair styling and great balayage, also for a great faultless mani/pedi/moon mani. Also they do a great skin analysis service. Endota for massage/facial/spa pedi. Love Endota. Brazilian butterfly for waxing, consistently trained thorough waxers.

    • Gin

Hi Amy, when you had the skin analysis done at Miss Fox what did they recommend? I’m wondering what others think of their treatments? I just felt that my therapist was a little inexperienced and I didn’t feel that comfortable with her. The place is beautiful though and some of the other therapists there seemed really nice… I’m not sure whether to go back and try again or just leave it.

  • Amy

Has anyone tried FrenchPink in the Melbourne CBD. Have walked past and looks clean/well appointed. Has anyone hada mani or pedi there?

    • Mary

I’ve tried their pedis only – they were good, but quite $$$, There is a place in little Collins street, just up from the corner of Elizabeth & little Collins that does pedis just as good, but for less$$

Also, if you need a emergency mani – the OPI desk at David Jones in Bourke Street, does them for $20 – no appointments required, just walk in!

      Hope that helps!

  • Kiss & Make-up

When I still lived in Belgium I always went to the same beautician for my eyebrows. She was The Best, I swear! Needless to say, when I moved to Switzerland I was in a bit of a panick, but oh noes, who’d do my brows now?? Fortunately I found a great beautician in Lutry he does an amazing job on my crazy unruly difficult eyebrows. She’s definitely the new leader of my beauty army!

  • Jen

Can anyone hook a girl up with ANY suggestion for a Beauty Army in New York City? I am newly arrived in this big ol’ noise, crazy, humid, exhausting, makes-my-hgeart-beat-faster city and am a little (lot) lost and in need of any suggestions from all you Fruity Followers who may have visited this City before me and struck it gold with a beauty service. I came here suddenly from Sydney and am here quite possibly for a long time with no idea where to start building up my Beauty Army… Any suggestions would be greatly, lovingly appreciated (not least from my poor face which has been ravaged bu airplanes and humidity and lack of sleep!)

  • GG

What a fabulous idea Zoe! I’m making note of all the recommendations for when I eventually move back home. I’m new to London now so have to start building up my beauty army, any ideas where to start?

    • kateusedtobeinLondon

whereabouts are you living GG? If you’re anywhere near the west london area I can HIGHLY recommend a few places. For hair – you cannot go past Kel Scott hair. Two salons, one in Golborne Rd and one just behind Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill. The most lovely welcoming salons full of brilliant staff. Shyli is a master colourist and the american girl (forgotten her name) is a brilliant cutter. Plus, walk in blow drys only 20 quid (possibly gone up in the last 9 months). And for nails, the girls at Swanky. Again, two salons – a new one right on Portobello. They are the funniest, loveliest girls who run a very down to earth salon (used to be minute, a little bigger now since getting some great publicity – I’ve sat next to Sienna Miller in there a few times!). V reasonably priced and the gorgeous eastern european woman in there is a nail magician. So much care, last so long, I miss them so much! They also have ridiculously good/cheap/fast brow threading (7 quid – honestly, Aussie prices make me gasp!) Anyway – just a few, hope it helps (and useless if you live in Hoxt

  • Mon

Byron area: Clay Organic Beauty in Mullumbimby

    It’s truly incredible

  • Sharnee

For Brisbane hair – Kevin at Toni & Guy Bulimba. I can always recreate his styles at home without needing a billion different products OR a straightening iron. A bit exxy but his cuts grow out beautifully, so I only need to go every two months.
For brows/lashes/maintenance – Blow in Newstead is the best. Very thorough; have seen three different therapist there and all have been tops!

  • Ash

Moved to the Hills area in Sydney recently, any suggestions for a hairdresser (cut only) and eyebrow wax?

  • Kerryn

    Melbourne:

Hair: Hair Off Bellair 2 – North Melbourne – Ask for Emily. For the nicest, caring hairdresser – she is still finishing her apprenticeship but offers the best advice, always works to understand what I’m blabbing about, and is talented and funny to boot. (and so close to flemington for race day blow waves)

Dentist: Smart Choice Dental – Dr Liz – keeps my invisalign sharp – and does a wholistic teeth plan – which will excitedly include whitening/veneers eventually.

Makeup Artist – as one – my comments are redundant.

    Needed: facialist, naturpath, and Jeannie…

  • Kristy Taylor

Joanne O’Connell who works from Miss Eyelash in Elwood and Mount Eliza. I recently had my eyebrows reshaped and I was blown away with the results : the shape she gave my eyebrows enhanced my eyes and rebalanced my face giving it a more youthful and fresh look.

  • Claire

    Perth

I just had my eyebrows shaped by Matt Yuko in Claremont. They look fantastic (already had many comments)! I’ve also heard Alison Jade is excellent.

    • Lottie

Im a huge fan of Matt’s- doesnt change your eyebrows to the current trend but makes sure they are perfect for you-
Alison Jade staff should be good too as both eyebrows girls trained under Matt Yuko.- Go the the master first.

      • Jodie

I went to Matt once and hated it be careful he took my eyebrows from an amazing full brow to a thin almost drawn on looking tattoo sooo bad I cried and didn’t want to show my face in public. I recommend anyone for brows to go to Jana beauty in Subiaco Lada and Whitney are amazing.

  • Anna

    Melbourne…
Hair: Biba Salons – most creative and talented staff led by my husband (of course I had to say that) Frank Apostolopoulos, based at Gertrude St Fitzroy. He would look after you Fruity Beauty! 2 time Australian Hairdresser of the year.
Skin: Dr Barbara Breadon Dermotology, Clifton Hill. Amazing team to take care of every skin concern. I have monthly peels there and since I have been using their skincare Rationale, my skin has never looked better. Highly recommended!

  • Emma

Any of the girls at Kew Skin Therapy. I have the most amazing facials with Rosa, who has nearly 30 years experience and i cannot recommend her highly enough. The salon is inviting and friendly and your skin will sing with joy afterwards. LED treatment was amazing too…

  • CM

    Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a facialist in Perth, any suggestions would be appreciated!

As for hair, I can’t recommend Head Studio on King Street in the CBD enough! Fleur is great with colour. They create works of art-check out their Instagram feed!

    • Miranda

I go to head studio on king st too. Highly recommend Tim and Elisha – Fleur did my colour once and she was great too. I love it there!!

    • Jess

Try Elodie at Chilli Couture (which is a hairdressing salon) on Brisbane Street in Northbridge. She is absolutely gorgeous and does a wonderful facial that’s relaxing, but also effective.

  • Elise

    Gold Coast-
Brazillian wax- Bella Brazillian in Chirn Park. Ask for amber- she does a practically painless brazillian and fantastic conversationalist. She always remembers me and i am terribke with upkeep! The only person I
    will go too!

Eyebrows- Pheniox salon in Mudgeeraba. The best eyebrow wax I have ever had. They are cheap at $13.50 (perfect for my student budget) and they transformed my eyebrows from uneven slugs to gorgeous, arched brows that open up my face!

I am looking for a student-budget-friendly hairdresser on the coast that isn’t scared of curly hair. Tough ask I know!

  • Jen

Nat at Total Brows Inglewood (Perth) is the absolute best for eyebrows. Everyone who goes to see her becomes addicted to getting their brows done by her and has anxiety attacks when she goes on holiday!

  • Sekai

Madeline at Miracles for Hair in Surry Hills Sydney. Am now in Brisbane and really struggling to find a good curly hair dresser. Any help gratefully received. Thnx

  • Clint

Wow, that’s what I was exploring for, what a material! existing here at this web site, thanks admin of this web site.

  • Tian

    Melbourne

I would appreciate any recommendations for hair dressers who have experience dealing with asian hair. Often when I go to an asian salon, things get lost in translation because I only speak English heh

    • Stacey

I’m hearing you Tian! I only go to Japanese or Korean hairdressers because I think they understand my hair better. I’m pretty happy with Taka at Tsumiki in Prahran. Good luck!

      • Annette

Try Darryell at Mancuso in North Melbourne. I’m Vietnamese and have been seeing him for 8 years. He is amazing. I daren’t see any one else.

        • Han

Hair on Vic ST, Abbottsford. Hands down best cut and I have fine, blonde hair. All the girls are Korean and hilarious! $28 for cut, wash and style- ridiculous!

  • Kristina

    Lassies of greater Melbourne town!
Ignite Body Couture (1/82 Keilor Rd, Essendon North VIC
    Ph: 03 9379 5767)
can wax you (least painful Brazilian ever – I’ve been seeing Catherine for a good 6-years now), spray you with the delish Naked 2-hour tan (& you can buy the home use prodz too, to extend the tan) & pretty you up with makeup application (Napoleon – avail for purchase too) all under the one roof! Catt can sort you out for lots of other treatments too – lash extensions, lash tinting, nails, etc etc

Hair – I only let the ladies of True Colours play with my tresses (379 Bay Street, Port Melbourne 3207
    Ph: 03 9646 5518)
I always look forward to getting my hair washed there – all of the girls give an AhhhMAZING scalp massage & the chairs will massage your back in the process too! Bliss!!

Brow tattooing – Anna at Hollywood Eyebrows (281 Bay Street, Brighton 3186
    Ph: tel:03 9596 8899)
is the only woman you want to give you the perfect shape via tattoo, if say you were once a young fool who let your neighbour wax your brows to annihilation… 🙁
    They’ll look oh so natural, people won’t believe it’s a tatt 😉

Massage, et al. – Body Freedom Urban Day Spa (392 Clarendon St, South Melbourne 3205
    Ph: 03 9696 4584)
My new fav day spa for relaxing body treatments. I experienced “the melt” on Satty arvo & I was proper blissed at the end of the 2-hour sesh. I don’t often treat myself to a massage, facial & scrub but would love to make this a regular occurrence!

  • Julia

    Hi guys,

Does anyone know of any good facialists in Canberra? Thanks

  • Ally

    Toowoomba

    Hair:
I would definitely recommend Rebecca at John’s Hair Stuido on Bridge Street. I actually drive from Brisbane to Toowoomba to see her!
    Waxing:
Kym at Oasis in Margaret Street is great.
    Spray Tan:
Crystal at Flawless Beauty on Jellicoe Street is brilliant and will always stay late / open early to fit you in

  • Brooke

I always turn to Elle at Subiaco in Ascot, Brisbane for everything hair related! She’s the only stylist who manages to get my hair the colour blonde I love and she does amazing upstyles for the races!

  • Erin

My submission is one for the low-budget west side (Melb) girls. (Us uni kids gotta stick together).

While I would LOVE to have a fully armed PBA at my disposal, this can only happen once the full time unpaid internships are over (internships at fashion PR agencies full of PAID fashionistas who indeed have their own PBAs, making me TERRIFIED that I’m being judged) and I am living well out of mum and dad’s house in Point Cook, and somewhere closer to the CBD where I’ll have my pick of beauty gals. (‘Gals’ has made a comeback)

What I have, is a great girl for my beauty basics. I have a personal beauty sniper.
She’s my waxing and tanning girl, and my reference for all other nearby beauty goodies. She knows her shiza when it comes to good quality beauty babes in the western suburbs of Melb.

Nicole Mancuso of the WaxTan&Glo Room (0422 241 817) in Werribee has been waxing me since I was 14 (I’m now 21, so that’s like, a really long tome for me). She is a perfectionist, she is excellent with people, and she doesn’t do all that ‘buy this groundbreaking moisturiser’ crap, which is a major put off for me when I go to certain fancy salons (remember, unpaid intern). She is my spray tan girl, and is amazing at it. The few times I have strayed from her I have whole-heartedly regretted it. She is also a brilliant make-up artist, my sister had her do her debutante makeup, and her bridal style was such simple, understated beauty.

She has a large and loyal client base, which is a key indicator of a skilled beautician.

It is HARD to find good beauty people in my area. So if your brows are worse for wear and you’re in old Jules G’s hood (That’s Julia Gillard for those of you who aren’t with it like I am), give Nicci a call.

  • Jess

I live in Perth but from Melbourne so I have both cities to recommend in

    Melbourne:
Johanna at Rhodes hair salon in Hawthorn is an absolute gem

    Perth:
Paul at House of Ernest is brilliant for curly hair
Helga at Advanced Beauty Salon in East Perth is fabulous for facials and eyebrows.

  • Steph

Brisbane – for massage, cannot go past No More Knots! They have quiet/private rooms available, give you stretching advice, and you can claim on your health insurance. They have so many locations! I see Sarah Mc at Greenslopes

  • Hana

My fellow blonde ladies of Brisbane

I am new to Brisbane and need to find a hairdresser who knows how to colour blonde hair properly. If you know of anyone who won’t leave me with silver hair please share. I also don’t want to pay an arm and a leg to get regrowth done.

    Thanks

  • Anna

I’m in desperate need of a hairdresser in Brisbane who excels with curly hair! I’m sick of hairdressers straightening it first then giving me a cut for straight hair that looks terrible with my natural curls!!! Thanks Ladies!

  • Helena

    CANBERRA HELP!
Just had a horrible hair dye and cut of my long time favourite hairdresesr – she’s randomly gone bizarre on me! Went from red to blonde and the transition wasn’t as painful as I thought, then the last two times I’ve been to her she wrecked it and cut it alllll wrong. Can anyone recommend a good hiardresser in Canberra? Particularly good with colouring? Happy to pay for a good service but prefer someone that isn’t goint to cost an arm and a leg!

    • Gemma

As I said above, see Samuel (or any of the team) at THE hairdressing in Braddon. They are on the upper end price wise but you get your moneys worth.

  • Hayley

I just moved to brisbane as a poor student 🙁 any suggestions for eyebrow waxers, massage places and hairdressers, who understand that some ladies don’t like to straighten their natural curls? On a budget? 🙂

    • Hana

Desirable Nails and Beauty on Robertson St in the Valley do waxing. All of my student friends go there to help save the $$$. Great with nails too. Head to Beu Tan in Milton (off Park Road) for a massage. I’m still on the hunt for a decent hairdresser though

      • Anna

I go to blow salon in newstead, and did when i was a student..it’s not particularly cheap…i.e., a junior stylist is $75..which isn’t too bad…and i got a cut and balayage recently and it was $250…which i think is actually pretty good! The thing is…they do such an awesome job that you don’t have to get it done again for ages!! I have had Shannon do my cut and colour..and it always grows out so nicely….they know what they are doing…and are fun and chatty…offer drinks..refill your wine glass….it’s awesome. Been about four times and never been disappointed!! xx

  • Brad Hansen

In the South West of WA go to Busselton Skin & Body on Prince Street in Busselton. Absolutely awesome.

  • Kaitlen

    PERTH – South
Tracey at Love Bodyworx is amazing for waxing, tanning, facials, nails – basically anything! She is a one stop shop! Highly recommend!

  • hailey

South Adelaide ladies I need help! I’m looking for a good facial and hair cut down south. I know there are a few amazing places in and near the CBD but living and working down south doesn’t bring me up that way often. I’m a budget girl too so not looking to blow the bank too much!

  • Laura

Sydney – Lisa at Angel Hair in Roseville is awesome, really friendly and always knows how to take your ideas and turn into something that will look good.

  • Sophie - Adelaide

Lyrie’s Skin, Beauty & Nail Clinic is an all round good place in North Adelaide. Good manicures, pedicures, facials, spray tans and make up. I always trust Lyrie’s beauty advice. http://www.lyries.com.au/

  • Nat

I’m new to your blog and have found this info really helpful! I am game enough to be one of those people who decides to “try something new” when I go overseas and have had a few successes recently which I thought I would share:

Barcelona, Spain: Tatiana at La Strada Salon in the Raval district is fantastic, I saw her in February. She did the best balayage I have ever had and it only cost about 60 euros even though I have super long hair. She speaks both Spanish and English and you don’t even need an appointment.

Madrid, Spain: BeautyStation in district No. 3 is a large hairdressing and beauty salon. Nice interior and very clean and hygienic. I went there for a Brazilian and leg wax, and I must say they were the fastest and most pain free waxer I have ever been to!

Facialist, Eyebrows and make up- Sonyla’s Beauty Spot
I have been going to Sonyla for all my beauty issues and she is amazing! She’s a magician when it comes to facials and she loves to get to ALL your whiteheads and blackheads. She will also recommend and suggest the best facial for you based on what your skin is going through, she doesn’t try to up sell you, she genuinely wants to take care of you skin. She has also trained up an amazing team so you are always in safe hands.
Her gift though is definitely eyebrows, in fact I would love to see her and Lien participate in some wort of ‘wax off’ because she just works miracles!
I couldn’t recommend her enough! She is just like my personal beauty expert.

It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.Hair Extentions looks good.

  • Farah

For Melbourne: Nathan the head stylist at Ornate salon in Prahan is a god amongst men and the rest of his team are pretty damn good too. Can’t go past Chelsea from Trophy Wife Nails for an extra special mani (now based in Richmond) and any of the girls from Brow Play in North Fitzroy for Brow Threading!

    Brisbane Laaaaadies

    Face fixer
I just had an amazing microderm facial with extractions for $85 from Keren Nissen-Wiis in Paddington, my skin already feels like new and I can’t wait to go back. She knows her shiz.

    Massage Man
If you are near Paddington go and see Jack at Southern Peace Health Centre for massage and acupuncture combo. He is awesome and really well priced.

I’m still looking for my one and only brow person. I recently got absolutely scalped by a certain place in Teneriffe and am now going through the heart wrenching process of growing my once lush brows back to their former glory. Benefit are good but a little inconsistent and some of their therapists are annoying….

    • Erin

Browzing in Bulimba for brows. I see Kellie-Anne. She is a star.

      • Kitty

Thanks Erin! I’ll give them a go 🙂

        • Anna

I went to a certain place in teneriffe..and my eyebrows were destroyed..and it cost $70…waaaay too thin. Anyway thanks! Will try this girl! x

          • Emma

Who is this person/salon in Teneriffe?!?! I don’t want to end up there not knowing and go through this pain!

          • Kitty

I went to Millk in Teneriffe and saw a gentleman…. And since this post have now found my brow saviour! Hannah Judge is mobile and for $50 gives the most incredible shape and tint! It makes me so happy I want to cry!

Where is all the love for Newcastle, NSW?
Hair- Toni & Guy The junction- Sarah was my cutter but she has left for an office job, but will be trying out one of the other girls there. Such a shame because she was an amazing hair stylist. I also get my colour done there by one of the girls. Was going to “Shag” on Darby Street, but for a little bit more $ I am now going to Toni & Guy AND I get pampered, unlike Shag (it is always rushed, no tea/coffe, noisy, swearing)
Facial- has to be one of the girls at Lily Victoria on Darby St.
Eyebrows- HELP! have just returned from the US and was AMAZED by the Benefit brow bar! Any recommendations on a great brow waxer in the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie area?

    • Angela

I am also looking for recommendations for a great brow waxer. If only Benefit would open a brow bar here in Newcastle!

Hair: Katelan at Couture Salon Boutique. The salon is a little out-of-the-way, but worth the trip. Katelan is very talented, creative and lovely.

  • Elle

    Sydney
Best & greatest post ever !!!! I’m a nails girl and my best place is Nail Salon Koko near Wynyard in Sydney. They’re exceptionally talented Japanese nail artists. Fiona Hay is great for more relaxing manis and pedis and she’s in Surry Hills. For brows I go to the brow bar on Myer Sydney CBD. For affordable and efficient leg waxing I go to MC Royal in the CBD. The perfect hairdresser eludes me as I have annoying knotty curly hair! Any recs?

  • Kerryn

Natspa in Essendon for any type of facial, particularly microdermabrasion. So thorough and so knowledgable. Also my to-to place for spray fans and eyebrow anything!

  • Suzannah

    Best post Zoe!
As a cash strapped student, does anyone have any good hairdresser recommendations for Melbourne that wont cost an arm and a leg? Thankyou!

  • Liz

    Brisbane

Brad Rixon at Rixon Hair in the city is fantastic. I’ve been going to the salon for over ten years and love their work. All his staff are fantastic if you can’t get an appointment with Brad quickly. For colour, see Igor – he is excellent!

  • Cass

    Melbourne, North Fitzroy

For hair I can’t go past Leigh Ryrie at Ryrie Salon on St Georges Rd. I have cowlicks and fine wavy hair, but Leigh cut me a fringe 4 years ago and I haven’t looked back! I had it blunt originally but now I have it a bit more feathered at the ends. It usually takes a week or so for my hair to settle in, but the cut always hits the mark.

  • Natalie

Lennox Head, northern NSW. The Pirate and the Gypsy where the very talented Hayley does her stuff is a great salon. She uses Kevin Murphy’s products and I just love what she does with my hair (foils, cut). Megan at Inner Beauty next door does my brows and they have never looked better!

  • Elise

now I know we are doing Australian places here, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a great hairdresser in London that doesn’t cost half a pay cheque? I’ve recently relocated and am seriously struggling to find a decent place

    thanks ladies

    • Louise

Yes!! they are called the witches hut in Clapham common http://www.witcheshut.com/opening-times.html

AMAZING! hair and funny enough the lovely lady that did my hair was Australian! i’m 99% sure she was the manager but you may want to call and check. She did the BEST haircut and blow dry I’ve ever had in my life! my hair never felt or look better. do it!

    • kate

Kell Scott in Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Grove. See my comments above. not hugely expensive by London standards – cheaper than Melbourne!

  • Cat

Still hunting a really great nail salon in melbourne that’s not in the city. My nails are ruined from shellac and need a bit of tlc from a professional

  • Annette

Darryell Hood at Mancuso in North Melbourne… He is a genuis! I sit in the chair and relax for 2-3 hours while he works his magic. Have been seeing him for 8 years now and have never looked back!

  • Louise

    Gold coast
Brazilian – Point of Beauty (Suzanne) she is amazing affordable and really friendly best wax I’ve had on the gold coast.

Unfortunately my hair needs some serious TLC but everywhere I’ve been to just isn’t amazing or worth the price to go back for o.k hair! if anyone knows anything let me know!

Also if anyone knows any hidden gems for clothes that DONT show your arse that would be awesome living here for 1.5 years and only buying surf singlets is getting OLD!

  • Ashleigh

    Ringwood, Melbourne’s east
Beauty on Ryrie: best eyebrow threading I have eve had! I would still be going there if I didn’t move to WA! The staff are so lovely! They do lots of other things there, but I haven’t tried anything. But definitely give them a go for anything =]

  • Ania Dorocinska

Hair: Off the top hair Coolangatta (Gold Coast QLD) stylist Eliza. She’s been doing my hair for 5 years. Brea & Eliza are both amazing.

Brows: Reena Mehta (Perfect Brows) Gold Coast, threading at its finest.

Waxing: Brazillian Butterfly in Robina (Recommend Ricky).

  • ShelleShelle

A great all round one stop beauty shop is hard to find in the country, most are over priced and under trained BUT if you live in or near Shepparton Victoria, look no further, I have found your new best friend!

Tamisha at TKS Hair & Beauty (Instagram @TKSHB_tish; Facebook TKS Hair & Beauty) is the absolute best! Hair, waxing, nails, microdermabrasion, facials, skin care, spray tanning, you name it and she either does it or will introduce it! She is so sweet too! Xx

  • Sarah Lakos

    Hello beauties!
I’m in need of a trustworthy hairdresser in Sydney. Wanting to give my mid-length-growing-it-out hair a little *zing!*. It’s naturally straight, medium thickness with some fun balayage hanging around from summer… My last haircut was a disaster with scissor marks all through my straight hair – any suggestions? xx

  • Clair

I’ve managed beauty salons in Melbourne for over 5 years – Brazilian Butterfly being one of them!

I’m currently waxing and spray tanning from home in Northcote – $30 Brazilians (salon quality wax)!!

    Hit me if you’re interested!

  • Anna

Can I just say a big thank you to Zoe for this idea..so awesome. On the weekend, I wanted an eyebrow wax and a brazilian on the Gold Coast..and I took the recommendations above – eyebrows with Lee at Lotus, and brazilian with Amber at Bella Brazilian…and both were a m a z i n g – just like the girls described. Also, I wasn’t anxious before I went – because I knew they’d come recommended! And better still – I told Amber at Bella Brazilian Chirn Park about how I found out about her..and she looked up fruitybeauty.com straight away to check the comment!! Love it!!

Wollongong Rocks!! Zoe you crack me up!

Hair/shellac/ eyebrows/facial/ waxing/make up – all done in one stylish salon “Niche Hair and “Beauty”, Coledale – a beautiful northern Wollongong beachside suburb!! Catherine and Peta have years of experience and always great for a laugh. Since changing to this salon – I have never been happier with my hair/eyebrows and nails.

Botox – Salon Visage Divue – Sunita at Dr Margaret Gardners rooms does a great job and never goes OTT with the big “B”!! Also offers a range of other treatments and discounts.

Spray tan – I do myself – have the whole machine set up at home – great money saver.

That said, I’m desperately looking for a Sydney hairdresser who can work magic (David Copperfield kind of magic) on my curly hair. Can anyone recommend a good blonde colourist in Darwin?

  • Danielle Butcher

    Hi,
I feel I am a little late to this party but wanted to share my Sydney list. Before I do I am feeling a little disillusioned on the hair front and am going to try Barney Martin – Zoe who do you recommend there?

    Sydney:
Blow Drys- Blow Dry Bar – I use the one in Balmain and Dimi or Katy are very good.

Nails – Nails Nails in Rozelle are exceptionally hygenic, polite and everything is done in a calming atmosphere. This is the kind of place you KNOW you won’t get a fungal infection from as all the tools they use either come straight out of the steriliser or they are disposable and you get to keep them.

Eyebrows – Diana from Brows Baby is amazing, her work is consistently good and was trained at Sharon Lee. She only does Brows to my knowledge but I think thats a good thing. She is also so lovely that I always leave in a little happy cloud when I see her, can’t recommend her enough.

Skin – I see Maggie and Suzie at Clear Complexions for Omnilux’s and the odd clear and brilliant. Of course they do all the injectables as many of their clients request this but this isn’t their speciality. What they are amazing at is skin health, whether thats restoring skin health or maintenance. They’ve given me a recipe that I am following and my skin has never looked so good, I’m talking actual results.

Tan – I use Planet Beauty in Balmain and always have Justine as she does as great job and of course has seen me naked and there’s no reason for anyone else to. Talia there does an amazing downstairs wax and which is quick and as pain free as something like that can be.

Makeup – I’m a makeup artist and hair stylist so I have to recommend myself for that but in all honesty I wouldn’t put myself out there if I didn’t believe in my abilities. I find my job requires a high attention to detail so all my above recommendations come from a self confessed Obsessive Compulsive when it comes to anything beauty related.

Hope that helps any Sydney siders that are looking.

  • Olivia

I am finished studying and got a full time job so the first time in over a year I thought I am going to spend money on my hair and get it done, but never ever having a hair dresser in melbourne since moving here I was lost and had resigned myself to do nothing then I remembered this post I read about…today I have found hope again !
I will find a great hair dresser and I will get my hair done LOVELY…. so THANK YOU Fruity and THANK YOU to all the PBA ladies!!! My war on this bad long overdue hairstyle will be won!

  • Belinda

In Perth for beauty, Je Suis Femme located in Westfield Carousel. They’re an organic salon specialising in La Clinic products which are certified organic and Australia made. The salon also uses hot wax for more sensitive areas. You definitely get what you pay for at this salon.

  • Kate

Heeeyyyy – can I suggest a crazy idea and suggest that the Personal Beauty Army becomes its own website…somehow. Linked and associated with this site, naturally. I’m thinking sorted by city, and then ‘type’ of supplier. THAT would be amazeballs, this is such a great concept.

    And in the meantime:
    Brisbane:
Tanning – Lush @ Albion and Teneriffe. They are the BEST. So many tans to choose from and they’ll help you by recommending the one that is best for you. Bec @ the Teneriffe salon is also awesome for waxing. So speedy!
Hair – Cassie @ White Gold Boutique in New Farm. She really cares about the health of your hair!

I have heard good things about the salon “QUE colour” and for a colorist Monique in particular, so I decided to give it a try.
To begin with, I had a consultation where I was assured that everything would be ok and I can come back in a couple of months (I guess she needed a refresher course).
On the appointed day instead of a beautiful hairstyle Monique refused to dye my hair. She was arguing that I would not like the result.
Unacceptable behaviors, such as poor customer service and ignoring rules/policies and the fact that I was forced to wait for an appointment so long make me feel disappointed. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!
And one more disappointment: “QUE colour” was keeping my deposit, which I have paid in advance. I had to make 3 phone calls to “QUE colour” to resolve a problem and finally got my money back. I am very disappointed with the service provided by “QUE colour” and would never recommend anyone to go there.

I went to see Danee @Killer Queen Beauty in Coburg last year for special event hair and makup and she was FAB!! Really attentive, lovely, and welcoming. I was a new mum at the time and hadn’t been able to get out of the house for months, let alone go out to an event! so I was a bit worried about the dark circles under my eyes and generally lookng BLAH. But she really listened to my needs and what I don’t like (caked on makeup) and designed a look to suit me, which made me look fresh and most importantly, like I had slept!! Win!
She even gave me a little facial massage before the makeup which was DIVINE. So good to have some time out to myself! She was the bomb, and I definitely would love to keep her all to myself but -sigh- can’t afford a makeup artist every day *just yet*
